Simone and Gabri are long term friends who share the same musical passions, so perhaps it was inevitable that they would eventually join forces and launch a project together. Producing under the artist names of Aki Bergen and Richter, this all Italian duo’s strengths lay embedded in their abilities to complement and inspire each other.
Both artists have enjoyed exploring a wide variety of genres over the years and each stemmed their initial love of electronic music during the 90’s European techno movement. Since then, they have spent time fine tuning their producing, composing and DJ skills. Aki and Richter’s common attraction to anything with a deep groove or melodic sound, has provided them with a foundation in which to streamline and empower their new partnership with. As individuals, they have both accumulated many years of experience in the music industry and possess unique qualities that signify their sound and individual flavour. Some of the artists they have worked alongside include, Dubfire, Noir, Miguel Migs, D.O.N.S and Massive Attack and they receive support from heavy weights such as Marco Carola, Ame, Richie Hawtin and Dixon among others.
Aki and Richter’s momentum from here, is to forge a complete union of minds, one that will drive the duo to produce an entirely new sound and one that which draw upon both their individual assets. Both artists see this partnership as a culmination of their creative influences and a tribute to their matured passion for electronic music. Together they are driven and inspired to bring you their best sounds yet. The project aim is to reflect and convey aspects of themselves through their music, with the intent to imprint you with a lasting impression and a burning desire to hear more.
Hello guys! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hi Lars! We’re both fine, thank you.
As usual we’re gonna hit the studio and make some noise!
Please tell us about the idea behind to perform as Duo?
We started talking after being introduced by a mutual friend. We noticed that they have many similarities, that our careers went in the same direction and that we had the same goals.
So it was natural for us to think of joining forces.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
In 2015 we mainly focused on Neurotraxx which is our own record label. So we’ve released 2 EPs on it, a track on Toolroom and a remix for the big Oliver Schories on Parquet Recordings. We’d say we were setting in our way to make music together and we can definitely state to love the final result.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned in 2016?
We have a lot in the oven! First in the pipeline there’s our new EP “Fly From Here” which will be released on our own label on the 6th of May. In this project, we teamed up with Luben, an amazing classy singer who’s featuring three tracks over four. Then we already signed some new stuff with great labels such as Nervous, Armada, Driving Forces just to name a few. We have been cracking on a lot of music for weeks and assure there will be more to come in the next months.
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
Rich: or me it was definitely in Asia during a gig playing with one of the promoters who danced next to me with a python on her shoulders, trying to get me to socialize with.
I believe and hope the snake appreciated my set!
Aki: Few years ago while I was going to Israel for couple of gigs, I missed three flights in the same day (don’t ask me why!) and spent almost a whole day at the airport in Istanbul. Well, not sure it may be that funny but I felt myself like being Tom Hanks in The Terminal.
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Rich: right now, those I would choose are: Tokyo ( Freq-Eleven Club ) , Stuttgart (Lehmann Club), Monegros Desert Festival, Malta (Liquid Club), Marseille ( La Nuit Rouge )
Aki: Curitiba (Vibe Club), Amsterdam (Amsterdam Bos), Chernovsky (Aqua Beach Club), Berlin (Ritter Butzke), Turin (Beat Dance Music Festival)
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Aki Bergen & Richter : If feat. Luben
Lino Cannavacciuolo : Sa Lughe ( Mario Bianco Remix),
Metodi Hristov : Space
Aki Bergen & Richter : Rituals feat. Luben ( On a Summer Morgning),
Nando : Glmde
