Labels :AVOTRE, Moda Black, Moon Harbour
Philip Bader was born in Berlin and fell in love with electronic music in 1998. His first important gig was at the legendary Tresor club in 1999, but by that point, spinning records was not quite enough. He launched “Max und Moritz“ and organized parties including the influential Berlin hangout “Karneval der Verpeilten”. Looking back, you can pinpoint the origins of the legendary Berlin “sunday after” parties with the events organised by Bader in the old Casino Hof called “Gelee Royal”. He was also involved with bar25 from the very beginning.
The next logical step for Philip Bader was to start producing his own music. His production debut was a release with Perry Roden on Monika Kruse’s Label Electric Avenue, followed by successful releases on, amongst others, Get Physical, Saved, Moon Harbour and This and That. Philip’s productions are characterized by his deep minimalistic Berlin techno style and evocative vocals – he uses his own voice in many of his productions. His DJ sets are like his tracks: consistently deep, playful and powerful. Philip’s latest project is the label “Dantze” which he runs in collaboration with Niconé.
Hello Philip! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey freaks , I am perfect . I started a track with my buddy Santé and today we want to finish this one in my studio .
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
I had a little run in the last couples of month . Sometimes you go to the studio and nothing works out the way you want it . But than all of a sudden one track after another gets finished . Upcoming are a great ep for snatch ,a track for suara, a ep for material , and some crazy shit for my own new label “outofmind “. First EP will be released end of november with a great kaiserdisko rmx . I am a big fan of there work. I also finished a lot of remxes for labels like avotre, moda black, snatch, roush…
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
I think this was my moonharbour called “ crazy ep “ . i had great feedbacks from a lot of artists i really love.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2015?
The most important releases for me will be on my own label “ outofmind”.
there I can present my new stuff and a new style. A bit more technoide rough stuff. Warehouse music.
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
My favourite place is a island . Ibiza of course . I played for dc10 this year which is one of the best clubs on the world for me . The experience and the energy there is magical. Also I played for sankeys witch I love for the warehouse style. You meet a lot of friends and artists on the island. The weather , the people, the energy , everything is amazing.
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
Once I had a gig in brazil. A openair party in the jungle. When I arrived there was nobody to pick me up from the airport. My bag with all my cloth was lost. I only had my usb sticks and my headphones on me.
I took a cap which took one hour to the jungle where the party was. They wouldn’t let me in because I wasn’t on there dj list. At this time I was super angry, haha. After they let me I realized the whole party was full of mud . One meter high mud . I bought rubber boots from a freak for 200 $ . he sold more than 100 pair and made a killing that days day. After a while I found the promoter and told him the whole story . He was really sorry , of course . I played the show and went straight back to the airport – totally dirty and full of mud.
