MFF Pod 126 Illy Noize Banner

This folksy dude living in the middle of Germany delivers the fun since the good old days of 99.
With an addiction for vinyl and the love for soulful house and techno tunes he is always hunting for that moment which makes a night special. But to dj was not enough for his enthusiastic mind. He started to release his first tracks in 2011 on What! What! Records. The Track “What We Called Love” was a huge festival hit in 2013 and was played around the globe.

This was followed by tracks on Degree Records, Yuma, Telekollegen.
Always searching for the right groove to catch your ear and his widely grown up musical taste he is up to shape his very own language of house and techno music.

Hello Illy! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hello Freaks and lovely people out there. Its Monday now – DJ Sunday I guess. Doing some mails today and chilling a lot.

You are label owner (Joyfriend), producer and touring a lot. How do you manage this massive schedule?
Sometimes I wish the day has 48 hours to work or to be the chief of a little Illy robot army. I am glad that my label works as a team. We share the label work and always have a lot of fun doing it. Its growing nicely and we are very proud. Production is like a full time Job. I have studio days like 9 – 5 workdays trying to find new ideas on one day and finishing tracks on the other day. Normally I prepare on Thursday for the weekend.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest EP is out on Telekollegen. They are a nice creative team doing label and light concepts. Their latest light instalments has been at Fusion Festival and Feel Festival. They always invest hard work in all of their projects and I am really proud to be on board. We also plan some Joyfriend/ Telekollegen nights in winter in Berlin, Leipzig, Dresden and of course Halle.

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
It’s definitely the Illy Noize & Lize Flume – What We Called Love on What! What! wich was remixed by Monkey Safari. Great to see what was happening since then.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2015?
I am working on some remixes now and on my own EP on Joyfriend.

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I have to say Berlin. I played Sisyphos several times now and it’s always a unique experience. It’s so special when you arrive at 2 in the afternoon and the party is going strong. This is a great club where you really loose the feeling for time.

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
I was playing my first big festival gig in Serbia. I was so nervous and proud all at the same time. The people there were so nice and cool and of course I had to drink Jaegermeister with everyone. So after the party I fall asleep on a meadow and I woke up with kids playing around me and a massive sunburn. After that I always remembered to put some sun lotion on before falling asleep outside.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Berlin Sisyphos
Copenhagen KB18
Charles Bronson
Herzensangelegenheit Halle

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Odd Only – Harakiri (out on Joyfriend soon)
Volkoder – Sansation
Josh Wink – Talking To You
Kevin Over – Blue OX
Jan Oberländer – Automatic
