LABELS: NOIR MUSIC / SUARA / DEFINITIVE REC. / UNDERGROUND AUDIO / SINCOPAT
Third Son is the alias of Joseph Thomas Price, recently relaunched as a solo artist with the premise of honing his original style of music. Born into a musical family and studying many different styles of composition from an early age, it seemed a logical progression to follow the path into electronic music.
This path has seen two previous successful music projects and, Third Son promises no less. Having already signed to Noir, Underground Audio, and Material, within a week of the birth of the project, the music speaks for itself.
Third Son has since gone on to sign further releases to Noir Music and added releases with Suara, Sincopat, Selador, Definitive, Definition, 303 Lovers, Go Deeva and Madtech.
It’s clear to see Third Son is on a roll and his future looks bright.
Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Great thanks man! Just got back from playing an unexpectedly banging gig in South Wales so feeling pretty pumped – will be spending the rest of the day in chill mode.
Does your Pseudonym “Third Son” have a deeper meaning?
Third Son comes from me literally being the third son in my family, but it’s also my third major project, which I don’t think would have happened if it wasn’t for the previous two. So I like that it acknowledges that.
Please tell us a bit about your latest and upcoming releases!
I’ve got stuff forthcoming on Suara, 303 Lovers, Sincopat, Underground Audio and more. Also have a 4 track vinyl release coming soon which i’m excited about as i’ve started to including vinyl in my sets more recently.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
Probably my most recent release on Noir Music (Braid/Delorean). As well as getting some good Radio 1 airtime the tracks seem to be doing the rounds in the clubs. I think both tracks are still in the beatport top 100 as well which is good to see.
How would you describe your sound?
Deep & Dark, but club focused.
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience around the globe.
What is your favourite city or country and why?
I like Germany a lot. I feel like the crowds I’ve played to there are sophisticated and know what they want. This really pushes me to work harder to piece together a more meaningful flow of music over the course of the set.
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
I turned up early for a show a while back, and the guy before didn’t bring any music. Lost his USB’s in transit. I felt bad for the dude so leant him mine to play some tracks. With over 400 tracks on there he managed to play a few key tracks I was planning on playing including one of my own! I couldn’t believe it, but hey – he must just have good taste.
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
