LABELS: Sincopat / Suara/ Kling Klong / Upon You
TO FIND ON:
Hailing from the Spanish mainland is a sound that’s resonating globally thanks to a choice select of tastemakers that are driving through the boundaries set out by their mediums.
A notable character from that sub-culture of game-changers is Marc Martinez Nadal, aka AFFKT, who has been a driving force behind a colorful & empowering sound that is refined by his drive for perfection.
Having worked on coining the sound of this alias since 2008, it has been a plethora of sound, place, person & culture that has provided a platform for AFFKT to experiment with his output.
Serving electronica crossover masterpieces that delve into the many sub-genre’s of house music via key imprints such as Suara, and his very own Sincopat label, and expressing versatility digging deep into his influences of the local by delivering heart-stopping, engaging techno on the likes of Kling Klong & Noir Music, AFFKT has committed to a life of synthesis and this is what sets himself apart from a comparatively shallow glance at dance music.
Once described as a “Son Of A Thousand Sounds”, AFFKT has evolved to a career peak where he has surpassed expectation and enjoyed praise from his peers. Cutting through the ranks, his path has retained an essence of so many that have influenced him, he now sits shoulder to shoulder in skill & presence.
Hello guys! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hola Stefan! I am glad to be back on the MFF podcasts, this new one is very diverse and eclectic.
You are label owner (Sincopat), producer, have a mastering company (Pobla) and touring almost every weekend. How do you manage this massive schedule?
Yes, last year have been exhausting, the only way is working hard and plan my time properly. The great team of people is working in Pobla and Sincopat makes everything easier we are a family.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
This year is being great so far with EPs in Kling Klong, Snatch! and Sincopat. I have also enjoy remixing a lot first part of the year for Robert Babizc, Dosem or the last remix I did for Third Son on Sincopat. I have spend a lot of time in the studio learning and developing my sound, and this last releases like per example the remix for Third Son release few weeks ago or my last release on Sincopat wich was a track with the vocalist Sutja Gutierrez define the shape of the music to come.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
All releases since the Upon You and Suara to the Kling Klong or Sincopat this one have work so good. My sound is so wide and sometimes I just think the people will not understand it properly but I am defiantly glad to be able to release what I just feel over hypes and styles, and there is much more of this in the future.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned in the near future?
Yes there are many releases coming, as I told you before I have been working hard on the studio to go further with my sound in all senses. A new remix coming on Sincopat a long Edu Imbernon, it took us a while to have it but we are really proud, then a new EP on Sincopat in October that includes a new track with Sutja Gutierrez and the remix by the Dosem. A new track I am personally really proud of call ‘Pied Piper’ will be included on the My Favorite Freaks compilation this year.
A new EP on Suara also is almost ready and another EP with Thomas Gandey wich will be finished this weeks.
Last but not least, I am the one in charge for second Vomvo album compilation on Sincopat, the first one we released it a year ago and was Darlyn Vlys the artist who collect and select all the exclusive music that we include in this such a special project. Apart of a selection of the exclusive tracks by some of my favorites producers nowadays I made 3 special collabs. A put so much effort on this project even many of the mixes of the other producers tracks where made by my so I have define better the sound I was looking for.
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I think there is so amazing places around the world, still didn’t find the perfect place but some of them are near to be perfect. So many favourites to choose… I like the vibe of San Diego and California, the food and people from Japan, the diversity of Australia, the musicality of Cuba. A favourite city for me is Valencia because has in little dose a bit of many places.
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
A lot of them but I remind with much love the birthday cake I got after playing in Fuji Japan months ago for around 3 or 4 hours, I didn’t expect it because was a week to my birthday. The paint my face and the AFFKT logo with chocolate
