LABELS: OFF RECORDINGS / SINTOPE / GET PHYSICAL
Hailing from Cluj-Napoca – Romania, ICS is a well-known name in music production, his tracks ripping up the dance floors all over the world for some time.
Being attracted to music from an early age, he started creating beats using only a keyboard and a tape recorder. Moving onto computers really showed his potential, and after few releases, „Eraser EP“ in 2008 brought the attention of Fedde Le Grand and many international DJ’s.
After winning several remix competitions, his remix for Martin Brothers „Dum“ brought him a release at Dirtybird.
Soon „Espagnol“ was featured on „Fabric 46“ mixed by Claude Vonstroke and recieved excellent reviews.
After solid appearances on Sintope Digital, Magnetik Grooves and other labels, „Once Again EP“ released on Jargon! was hitting the charts after few days with massive support from Dj T, Richard Dinsdale, Andre Crom, Sono and many others.
“Par Fum EP” was another release that caught public attention, the title track being played in several radio stations from Russia.
2014 comes with “Like A Fool EP” released on Jargon! , and “Giv’em (Original Mix)” released on OFF Spin 19 by OFF Recordings. In april, Andhim picked “Optick – Hopasa ( ICS Remix )” to be released on Get Physical Music’s “Body Language 14” compilation.
ICS is a name that really deserves attention, and whenever you need a „weekend weapon“ be sure to check his releases.
Hello Cristi! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hello mate. Today I’ll be at my studio, trying to finish some remixes and my next EP
Does your Pseudonym “ICS” have a deeper meaning?
You know, I get this question a lot. It’s quite simple actually: when you read ICS in Romanian, it sounds just like the letter X. So, basically, ICS means X, which means an anonymous person, just like John Doe.
Please tell us a bit about your latest and upcoming releases!
Right as we speak I am focusing on what’s next. Unfortunately i can’t reveal much but for sure we
will have another Sintope release soon, and two vinyls.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
I think that every release has it’s own place in my musical universe, mainly because i try to reinvent myself every time. “ICS Ep” on Dirtybird was a huge step for me. It made me understand how this business works and what i have to do, but “Once Again” – Jargon! was the one that helped me shape my present sound.
How would you describe your sound?
As i’ve said before, i really like to reinvent myself with every release, but if i were to make a short description, it would be: Groove that moves !
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
There were a lot of crazy and funny moments but i recall one in Austria when one of the promoters
was asking me where are the other two guys from ICS and he was very surprised to find out there is only one. At that time, to me is seemed pretty funny
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
I always give my best and try to have a great time everywhere i go so i won’t give you a top 5 but for sure i will always go back to Russia or Switzerland.
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
