LABELS: Stil Vor Talent, Clap Your Hands, Get Physical, Katermukke

This producer and Dj is one artists who established himself well in the electronic music scene in Germany and Europe.

Being born in south Germany, he has brought the Bavarian „Gemütlichkeit“ with him all along. After passing some years in Barcelona and Austria, he made himself at home in good old Berlin, riding his bike in between his home and his studio every day.

He is focusing on vocal driven, beat oriented Techno and Techhouse music. In his productions, you can hear that a man is at work, who knows his gear well and who likes to linger in perfection.

Ferdinand’s musicality is clearly apparent and through his numerous releases on some of Germany’s biggest and most important electronic music labels, he has demonstrated his mastery of electronic music but kept his trademark respect for space and depth and arrangements, through fine attention to production details.

His Home base-Label is Clap Your Hands, but he is well-known for releases on Stil Vor Talent, Katermukke, Get Physical and Resopal Schallware, among many others.

There is much more to come in 2016 – so stay tuned!!

My Favourite Freaks Interview
Hello Ferdinand!! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today ?
Hi Guys, thanks for having me on your podcast series! I will head to the studio to finish some work wich I left there yesterday, finish some tracks I am currently working on and have a good time while I’m doing it!

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest one is a single peace on the „No Filler Just Killer“ Compilation on Stil Vor Talent. The track is called Amnesie and it’s quite technoish but has also some minimal components to it and it’s got that nice sublime crescendo throughout the whole track, wich also defines it as a peak time thing. And my latest EP on Clap Your Hands Records, Access EP is also still out there. It came out in the end of February 2016. Basically, it’s 2 peaktime tracks, one a bit more melodically, the other darker and harder…

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
I definitely got most attention through my track Coeur De La Nuit wich was released on Katermukke in April 2013. Marvin Hey and I did this track together on the Chronical EP and it gave both of us a huge rush and a lot of great opportunities. But for me, the success of my Concepts EP on Clap Your Hands Records in July last year was my personal highlight and kind of an important stepping stone to my career. It defined my new focus of sound wich is still melodic somehow, but deeper, darker and more techno than my former releases. I got great support from huge artists such as Troy Pierce, Hermanez and Sam Paganini, wich of course was a great blast for me.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2016?
I have 3 EP’s planned out so far. Of course there will be a Clap Your Hands follow up wich is due in late October. Another EP is planned and ready on Schallbox Records. This one will include remixes by Sven Tasnadi and Beatamines. I am really looking forward to this one. The first track going to be quite mystical with crazy whistle like sounds and the second one is an open air bomb with almost trance like melodies and a crazy twisted percussion hookline. Last but definitely not least, I am waiting to get the release date confirmed on a very long-term planned EP on my mates Label Treibjagd. It’s going to be three tracks, with some techno and techhouse influences.

As you are touring, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I must say the gigs in Eastern Europe are usually very huge. The crowd is always really going for it and they want it hard, fast an dark. But for now, I concentrate on the festival season. I really love all these small- and medium-sized festivals you can find around berlin, and I play at quite a lot of them this year. For example, the Feel Festival last year was one of my most memorable gigs last summer. It was quite chaotic at first, the playtimes got switched, wich basically was the golden ticket for me and I got the sundowner time until midnight on Saturday. When I close my eyes, I can still see the setting there in detail. all the lights, fireshow and crazy crowd going nuts – what a blast!!

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
I was playing in Croatia and when the club closed that night, everybody gathered for an unofficial after party. It was snowing like crazy and we drove in a convoy of several cars through the city. One of them had the trunk open to fit in the enormous speakers. We even got pulled over by the police, but they did not care and wished us a good day wich we obviously had big time 😉

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
• Feel Festival 2015
• Sisyphos Hammhalle 2016
• Hasch Mich Festival 2016
• Grüne Sonne Festival 2014
• A gig in Munich back in the days (around 2003) – a 13 hour set in the Palais summer location

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
• Sloth – Ferdinand Dreyssig (sry, but it just rocks ;))
• Apollo – Thomas Schumacher
• Delirium Is Family 2 – UMEK
• Sixtynine – Pele, Shawnecy
• Awake (Julian Jeweils Remix) – Joseph Capriabi
