Leaving home at the age of 16 and having to look after himself his first and for most focus became Music. Working hard to keep his head above water he also saved up for his first pair of designer jeans which in turn became the inspiration for his artist name „Safado“.
Knowing early on that nothing comes for free he started to work hard on perfecting his DJ skills.
It was in 2009 that his hard work was paying off when he was offered a Residency at Bar Plastique one of NRW’s hippest Electro Music Bars.
Inspired by the funk and Soul of legends like Jimi Hendrix and James Brown he started his own productions in early 2011 and the first fruit of his labour was a track called „Naho“ which he released as a free download.
After sending some promos to Record Labels he got lucky with Berlin based Mode2 Recordings who fell in love with his style right away and will release his debut simply called „EP“ just in time for all the big parties this holiday season.
The 3 tracks „are you somebody“, „Interview“ & „Reverse“ perfectly show off his smooth yet funky house style with his own cheeky twist that make this sound his trademark.
Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Cheers guys. Today, nothing special is on my schedule. Gotta finish a remix for Antura Records which I’ll be finishing during the evening.
Does your Pseudonym “Safado” have a deeper meaning?
Back in the days, I didn’t have too much money to be able to afford my stuff and to be honest, not too much changed about that till now. 🙂 But back then I really wanted to have one of those Diesel jeans trousers because within my surroundings they were kind of a status giver or attention giver. I saved a lot of money to buy one, and when it came so far I bought the model called “Safado” by Diesel. Later I found out that the name is the Portuguese translation for womanizer or skirt chaser 🙂 At the end of days the synonym only reminds me on my roots, and times where I didn’t even have the money to buy a pizza.
Plase tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest release is a bit older already, it was the Back by Seven EP which was released on WePlayMinimal. But this year, there is a lot to come.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned in 2016?
I’m not allowed to talk too much about it but there’ll surely be one or two bomb releases.
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
Too much to pick a specific one, that wouldn’t be fair I guess.
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
The tour I did last year through Egypt definitely was the best experience, not gonna lie. Berlin always is exiting as well, but also my residency at “Die Nacht” Mönchengladbach is always cracking.
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
There are many. At the moment I play a lot of stuff by young artists such as Tarde and Right On. I think it’s important to play a lot of stuff by people that are talented to give them the chance to be heard. I usually don’t give the people what they want to hear during my sets, I give them what they NEED.
Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
It was a pleasure, thank you guys.
