Labels : Lauter Unfug, Hush Recordz, Safe Music

If it comes to passion and devotion to deep undeground house music, Thierry Loesch aka. Riven is one of those Artists that spreads dark grooves through every venue he spins the decks at.
His career started back in the early 20 ́s when he discovered an old turntable in his grandfathers basement. He then randomly bought a Vinyl Collection at a Flea market containing a nice selection of classic house vinyl reaching from Joe Smith to Frankie Knuckles. Unknowingly, he quickly developed a deep interest into this style of music which lead him to buy a second turntable and experimented putting the tracks together. After a few years of practicing and after recording his first demo tape which he sent to the local bars, he quickly got his first gig and has ever since been spinning the decks almost every weekend.
In 2013, he decided to take his career a step further and over the borders. Together with his friend Pierre Bellion he founded “Lauter Unfug”, a Music Label which quickly became one of the most proliferating Underground Music Labels in Luxembourg, hosting a lot of international Artists from all over the world.
His residency at the Lauter Unfug events has not left his music unnoticed and lead to gigs at clubs like Tresor, Ritter Butzke in Berlin, Silodom in Saarbrücken and festivals like the Amsterdam Dance Event, Amphitronic and Nature One.
Riven ́s passion never stopped at DJ-ing alone. In 2008, he bought his first Desktop PC and a copy of FL Studio and has been producing ever since. After many years of polishing his productions, he had his first release in 2014 on Hush Recordz, followed by releases on Panaché Music and Habitat Music.

Hey Thierry! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hello Lars, well I have a busy day, once again for a change. As you might know, I recently started my own Label with Pierre and Alex Heide called “Lauter Unfug” and we are putting a lot of effort into getting everything up and running. The artwork and the image of the label are done but promotion takes a lot of time to. We also have a big event coming up next week in Luxembourg, hosting a Watergate showcase with Tiefschwarz and Lee Jones. We are really looking forward to that! Though it takes a lot of time to prepare such an event, it´s my passion, our passion and everything we do is done with devotion and off course, a little bit of fun.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest release was the “When are you Hungry?” EP, which is out on our Label and I am really proud about this one because it´s the very first release on Lauter Unfug Music! I´ve been getting quite a lot of good feedback and it´s been played by Tocadisco and Zokhi on Get Physical Radio.

Does your Pseudonym “Riven” have a deeper meaning?
Well, many years ago, there was a Video game called “Riven”. It´s not very known but I really liked it and passed a lot of time playing it. It was a very “slow” game in which you had to solve a lot of riddles. The soundtrack was very well composed and when I started producing, I did a lot of sampling taking tunes out of the game. And of course, when you want your music to get heard, you have to get out there and DJ and a DJ needs a name so I pretty spontaneously adopted that name. It´s short and easy to remember, not to cheesy, pretty much what I´ve been looking for.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
I have some releases planed, one is coming on Monza Ibiza Records, the other one is coming out on Safe music.

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
Well I´ve had a lot of crazy and funny experiences in my career and I´d really like to share them with you but I think it´s for the bes if I keep them to myself. There´s some things you just don´t want to know.
