This promising duo has already developed a notorious reputation all over Belgium. Joyhauser holds up an impressive arsenal of hard-hitting beats accompanied by captivating and melancholic strings. Raw techno mixed with epic harmonies are the main ingredients of their signature sound. They played and were praised at just about every single club in Belgium, they
performed at several big festivals such as Extrema Outdoor, Tomorrowland and Pukkelpop. They are swiftly conquering other countries as well with visits to Spain, France and Holland. As a freshly introduced member of the My Favourite Freaks family you can be sure that their thriumphal march won’t stop here.
Hello guys! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Today is studio day! We both have a daytime job so during the week we try to make some drafts for new tracks. One or two days a week are devoted to the studio. We get together and pick the best ideas, shaping them into a full track.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
We released on three VA’s this year: Ellora, Phobiq and Kraftek. All three tracks got played by quite a lot of big names.
Really nice that all of them did so well, it gave us that extra push so that more and more people got to know Joyhauser.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
Well, that must be Galaxy Phase on Kraftek’s latest VA. It kind of exploded just before summer hit. Especially when Awakenings featured a clip of Amelie Lens playing it at Awakenings Festival. We received a lot of good exposure because of that. The track rocked the Beatport charts high up there for a lot of weeks. We’re still playing it in our sets, because the crowd loves it so much and kind of expects us to play it, haha.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
First up is a 4 track EP on Terminal M (Monika Kruse), coming out 12 November, digital and vinyl. Monika’s been playing the A-side all summer long and really loved it, so she contacted us for some more tracks. Really cool because Terminal M is probably one of our favorite labels. We’re really happy with the EP, it contains 4 totally different tracks but they’re still very recognisable and perfectly reflect the Joyhauser sound.
Secondly there’s a cool remix we did for Skober & Yan Oxygen, coming out on Respekt Recordings later this year.
Also signed: a 4 track EP on Phobiq recordings, coming in 2019. And again a label we really love. But more on that later!
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
We visited a lot of different countries this last year, so that’s a tricky question. We really love Berlin and Barcelona but visiting Tokyo was definitely something we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. The atmosphere and culture, just wow! Such a powerful experience!
