Wehbba is considered one of the premiere electronic music producers hailing from Brazil, gracing the industry’s most respected labels and parties across the globe. His early years of spinning techno and house records lead him to his first international recognition in 2006 on German imprint Killa Beat.
Since relocating to Barcelona, and immersing himself into the scene in Europe, he has seen a steady stream of outstanding EP’s on labels including Drumcode, Soma, Bedrock, 2020Vision, Knee Deep In Sound and Tronic.
His versatility and diversity secured him a feature on “The Magnificent Seven” movie promotion with Sony Pictures, remixing the motion picture’s soundtrack, as well as working in production or remixes with some of the worlds most respected artists including Laurent Garnier, Danny Tenaglia and John Digweed.
After two solo albums, his Boiler Room in Sao Paulo back in 2014, and relentless touring around the globe, he’s been immersed in the studio recently, developing his production style and testing new hardware, which lead to remixes and originals on Items&Things, Second State and his new found home, Adam Beyer’s mammoth Drumcode, with 2 EPs in less than 6 months, namely Eclipse EP and Catarse EP, after a praised debut back in 2017 with “Fake”.
You can also catch Wehbba every month on Pioneer DJ Radio, where he showcases his RE:MOTE Podcast.
Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hi! I’m good thanks, just sippin’ on some good Guatemalan coffee from a local roaster here in Barcelona, to celebrate my next release on Drumcode, which was just announced today !
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
I’ve recently had my first EP on Drumcode, called Eclipse, which was a follow up from my track “Fake” that came out on the label’s A-Side compilation back in 2017. It’s been a massive success, and I’m totally overwhelmed by being able to announce the follow up already in less than 6 months, with Catarse scheduled for July 9th. I’m very proud to be on board of such a huge platform as is Drumcode and super happy to have Adam Beyer’s incredible support recently.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
It’s safe to say the release of Eclipse EP on Drumcode changed things for me in a very positive manner. To have the label’s support and being included on their events also adds up and I’ve been having a great year so far.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
Catarse EP is coming up on Drumcode on July 9th, and we may have another surprise soon after that 😉
For gigs, what is your favorite city or country and why?
I’ve been having lots of fun playing in Germany and Spain recently, since I’ve been to those places more frequently in the past few months, but I’m starting to miss my beloved Brazil.
What were some of your favourite gigs?
2018 has been great, Hardpop in Mexico, EGG in London, Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt and Nuits Fauves in Paris have stood out so far…. I’m really looking forward to my first Drumcode shows in Barcelona and Ibiza this summer
