MFF Pod 219 Rob Hes Banner

LABELS: Pursuit / Tronic / SCI+TEC / Octopus

Meet Rob Hes, one of the brightest new stars on the techno horizon. His sound can be described as raw, energetic but very musical at the same time. He is one of those artists where you immediatly recognise his work as being his, without him repeating a few signature tricks over and over again.

Rob has drawn the attention of the global techno scene big time lately, but newcomer might not be the best way to describe this multi talent. With more than 15 years of studio experience and countless releases under different aliases under his belt, this is definitely one of those raw diamonds that has remained hidden for far too long. But don’t worry,
with recent releases on Dubfire’s ‚SCI+TEC‘, Christian Smith’s ‚Tronic‘, the infamous ‚Bedrock‘ label and his upcoming release on Oliver Huntemann’s Senso, he’s getting more eyes on him every time his music hits the stores.

Hello mate!  How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
I’m just back from a gig at jenja club in Bali. Had to travel like 24 hours. So today I just mixed a new track, and working now on all my emails and socials. And listen demos for my label Pursuit what I will start in 2018.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest release was on the amazing label of Sian: Octopus Recordings. It’s a EP with 3 original tracks. Check it out if you didn’t listen 😉

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
There where a couple, but my biggest hit was my track ‘The Solution’ what was released on Tronic in the beginning of 2017.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
There are always special things plannend haha. I’m working full time in my studio, so my release schedule is always pretty nice. This Friday my track ‘Drag Me Down’ will be released on Oliver Huntemann’s Senso. In january my new EP on Dubfire’s SCI+TEC will see the light. One of Dubfire’s secret weapon lately.
And of course there is coming new releases on Tronic!

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
Difficult question. There are many I really like. The first country what pops up is Brasil. Nice weather and they know how to party there. Such a big difference if you compare it to here in the Netherlands. Romania is also really nice for me.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
I probably forget some:
Dockard Festival (Netherlands) Main Sounds (Romania)
Sisyphos (Germany)
Barraca (Spain)
Le Plug TNT (Tunisia)

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Duss – Element of Surprise (Pursuit)
Rob Hes – Proxima (SCI+TEC)
The Southern – Work Out [Loco & Jam Remix] (Pursuit)
SAMA – We Thought (Pursuit)
Lucas Aguilera – Oscuro De Mas (Pursuit)

Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
