LABELS: Kompakt, Noir, Play It Down, Of Unsound Mind, Kling Klong
Danish DJ and producer Christian Nielsen, is a rare commodity in the world of House and Techno. While other producers might pander to the masses, Nielsen, never opts for a novelty approach, instead carving his own successful niche in a constant jostle for dance floor play.
Danish producer, Christian Nielsen is an artist who has seemed to come out of nowhere. Working in an office by day and developing his musical craft by night.
That said, his sound is a classic one, and one which has already made him popular – most notably on KOMPAKT, 8bit, Play It Down, Noir and Kling Klong.
Nielsen, however, is no flash in the pan, and is a producer who knows his way around the studio and has evolved musically buying tracks and studying legends like Kerri Chandler, Jimpster, Mr. V, Master At Work, Larry Heard, Moodymann and the late Frankie Knuckles.
A firm advocate of dance-floor ready house, Nielsen is one of the most interesting producers to arrive on our radar for some time, and if you’re a fan of electronic music, then you’ll no doubt be aware that we’re dealing with a man who’s stock is firmly on the rise.
Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
I’m doing very well thanks for asking J Well today I’m going to be spending the rest of the day in my basement studio making some special edits for potential advertisements. That means cutting down 6-8 min tracks into 2 mins. So a whole lot of cutting and pasting for me. And if I have time, I will work on my remix for WhoMadeWho’s Tomas Barfod that I’m really excited about.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My latest release was “We Go On” on Jesse Rose’s Play It Down. It did really well and got massive playtime from my favorite legend Laurent Garnier.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
By far my track “Do You Mind” has been my biggest success so far. After that came my release on 8bit called “Need That Something”. “Treading Water” on Noir also did really really well!
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
So 2017 is going to be a pretty hectic year to be honest. Next up is an EP on Kling Klong. Then a single on Kompakt. Then I have another EP on Play It Down. A 2 track EP on Skream’s Of Unsound Mind. A release on Huxley’s No Ideas Original, and then in august I release my album on Play It Down. So the next couple of months are going to be nuts!
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
Oh I hate this question because every city, country and club has its own charm. I had amazing gig not so long ago in Toronto which was amazing! Bahrein in Argentina was superb!
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Again very hard to define:
Dirty Decibels, Canada
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
