LABELS: Terminal M, 8bit, Heinz Music, Leena Music
One of the first things you’ll notice about Alexander Aurel is his mental and emotional flexibility, constantly chasing him to discover fresh musical pastures. This flexibility turned out to be an effervescent source of inspiration. He presents a wide musical spectrum that sounds percussive, melodic, pushy and groovy, with an excellent intuition for the needs of the crowd.
Don’t be surprised if you meet him in the middle of the dancefloor while playing a set – Alexander enjoys to be truly „at eye level“ with the crowd. His sweeping sound, paired with an open mind and congenialness, cleared him the way to tune in to a successful DJ career.
Besides DJing Mr. Aurel spends a lot of time at the studio, producing his own tracks and releasing them on Labels like 8Bit, Heinz Music, Leena Music & Terminal M.
Alexander was picked by Karotte to be his resident at the „As you like it“ events and by Marcus Meinhardt to be part of the Heinz Music Family where he is doing what he knows best: Celebrate the moment and let the music be the answer.
Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey, thanks for having me. It’s Friday, the day to listen to promos and check Beatport to prepare my sets for the weekend.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
I just released my second EP on Heinz-Music. For the Room 101 EP I used a recording of my long-time friend Franky playing clarinet. We did this session a few years ago – and when I started to produce new tracks for my label boss Marcus Meinhardt, i remembered it and used his instrument for the main track.
Both Run Faster versions were inspired by bookings at the katerblau Berlin.
Playing there is always special – I had a lot of amazing nights playing at the Heinz Hopper Floor and the Kiosk Floor. Every floor there has his own flow and feeling. When I’m in the studio working on a track it sometimes the same. I’m able to produce different tracks based on a similar groove. So I tried to produce two tracks that could fit in the mood I had in the Kater playing on both floors!
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
I think it was my first release on Terminal M. Releasing on a big label, that I follow as a dj since the first releases, was definitely a turning point in my career!
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
I’m working with Danny Serrano on a EP. We have some really cool tunes in the pipeline. Watch out! The next release will be a Remix on My Favourite Freaks Music for Juliet Fox. Looking forward to this!
As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I’m in love with my Hometown, because a lot of my friends and family lives here. But if I had to move to another country and city it would be Barcelona. The people, the weather and the beach.. Life is good there.
