Biographie

Franz is a 25 year old Italian DJ and Music Producer, currently living in Berlin. He started studying musical theory at the age of four, but his passion for music means that he is constantly improving and learning new artistic skills.

Chopin, Mozart, Liszt and Bach were crucial for his artistic growth and he now draws inspiration from these classical musicians’ work. Playing music and composing tracks quickly became Franz’s religion, who, in time, has become appreciated for his style (deep / progressive house but also with vintage sounds) and for his skills behind the decks.

Now, he usually composes deep, tech house and techno tracks, but he also enjoys “vintage” and “electro” mixes such as remixing tracks by famous and emerging artists in an old school style.

In August, 2013 he released his first EP “K8” on the german label Trapez Ltd (Traum), that in two days reached #46 place on Beatport top 100. K8, the main track, has been played and supported by many artists and has also been included in the Trapez Ltd selection mixed by Pavel Petrov.
Just a few months later, Franz released his second EP on Poesie Musik, a division of the famous label Get Physical Music. The main track, To survive has been played by several artists and even on BBC Radio 1 (UK).

This year, he has already released on Traum, Get Physical and Parquet as well as remixes for Fritz Kalkbrenner and Alle Farben, with a few more releases expected before the end of the year.
Aside from producing new tracks, Franz is building his reputation by playing in clubs both in Berlin and in the rest of Europe.

Interview

Hello mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey Lars! I’m really good thanks! Nothing special, I’m working on some new tracks in the studio. And right now I’m writing this interview for you.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
I’ve got a fair few releases just out and coming up. 3 weeks ago I released an EP on Trapez, it has some amazing remixes and I think it’s been really successful.
And of course my remix for you guys with M.in!

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
That’s a difficult one, I think that every single one of my tracks tells a story but I have to say my first release on Trapez (K8 EP) because that’s when my career really took off. Since then I’ve been constantly busy with gigs and releases.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned in 2016?
Well last year was an amazing year for me, and I expect this year to be even better! I’ve already got a few remixes to be released and another 2 EPs on Click Records and Parquet Recordings. I’m currently working on my third and maybe even fourth and fifth etc.

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
Another difficult one! Obviously, my heart will always be in Italy, it will always be my favourite country. But my favourite city is definitely Berlin, I wouldn’t have moved here otherwise Emoticon wink. The people in Berlin welcomed me with open arms when I arrived just over a year ago. I love playing here, there’s always a great atmosphere and the energy from the people is like no other.

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
People giving me gifts. It’s happened quite a few times and it’s always such a surreal experience. It’s almost always from people who have travelled from a different city to hear me play. It’s a pleasure to know that people enjoy what I do as much as me, it’s always nice to be appreciated.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
One of my favourite gigs was on my birthday at House of Weekend (Berlin). After my set everyone on the dance floor sang happy birthday to me, which was amazing! But I don’t really have a top 5, every club has something different to give, and different people and that’s what I love about my job, no two places are the same. For both the people and the ambience of the club.

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Mano le Tough – Primitive People (Tale of Us Remix)
Laurent Garnier – The Man With The Red Face
Oxia – Domino
M.A.N.D.Y. & Booka Shade – Home (Kollektiv Turmstrasse Remix)
Frankey & Sandrino – Acamar

Thank you for the interview, it’s been a pleasure to answer these questions for you 🙂
Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
