With a prolific output of EPs and live albums on Cubism plus releases on labels such as Kevin Saunderson’s Legendary KMS , liebe*Detail ,Soma, My Favorite Robot Records , Wiggle , Monique Musique and london Club fabric’s world famous imprint.

Saytek Live On Cubism 3 was released at the beginning of Nov 14 on CD and Awarded 9/10 by DJ Mag , 8/10 by Faze Magazin (Germany) and getting glowing reviews across the press including Freshguide Berlin , Decoded Magazine and across the Internet.

“Deep metallic chords, guttural sub-bass and raving synths; New Jersey organs, Amazonian chants and gurgling acidic syrup all washthrough a frenzy of smoke and lasers… this guy just keeps getting better and better.” – 9/10

Interview

Hello Joseph! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey hello I am well thanks ! I am currently in my studio working on new live material and getting to grips with some new hardware.

You are label owner (Cubism), producer and touring almost every weekend. How do you manage this massive schedule?
Yes its not easy specially with 2 young children as well. But i am lucky I love my job and my life even if its very very tiring ! I just try to look after myself as much as possible try and eat well , do yoga , mediation and exercise and sleep when I can !

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
It’s been a great year for single and E.P releases with digital releases on Kevin Saunderson’s KMS ,Wiggle , Darren Emerson’s Detone , Pecep-tion Berlin also its been great for Vinyl Releases with tracks and E.Ps on Liebe*Detail , Golden Gate Club Records and new label from liverpool Splitt records. Its been great to see all the releases hit Beatport , Traxsource , Juno or decks.de sales charts with quite a few top 10’s.

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
Its got to be my Live On Cubism albums on my label cubism. They are an 80 minute live performance we released on CD and the response from the press , fans and blogs has been amazing with Mixmag naming the second volume as album of the month and DJ mag giving the third 9/10 . As a live act these albums allow me to put together a live journey through house and techno and this is what I love doing most !

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned in the near future?
Yeah I have a lot still to come this year and early next I am really happy to have signed to Decay records they are a great vinyl label from the UK , also I have a remix coming out on KMS and an E.P coming soon on Kevin Saunderson’s new label “2nd Born” which is dedicated to the deeper more experimental side of house and techno. I have 2 singles and an E.P signed to italian label Lapsus and a track coming out on the My Favourite Freaks compilation. I have an E.P coming on Cubism plus I have lots of tracks waiting to be signed as well and working on new stuff all the time.

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
Well I love the obvious ones Berlin , Ibiza and London but my experience is with the right crowd you can have an amazing party anywhere and I have had some surprisingly good gigs in unusual places from an illegal warehouse parties in Helsinki to converted pubs in small towns in England to an open air Forte party in Jersey to an underground haven in Lublin in Poland . When like minded people and good music come together something special always happens even in the most unexpected places !

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
Well when I was single I was playing at the Zoo Project in Ibiza these two beautiful – and I mean stunning – girls invited me back their hotel room and they where pretty forward. I was over the moon! Then one of them bit my arm as hard as she could, she drew blood and said “ there’ll be more of that later“. I still haven’t lived down the fact I was running scared and hiding from two stunners … pain just isn’t my idea of fun !

How comes that you decided only to do live ?
It wasn’t really a decision I was always a producer not a DJ and always loved jamming on hardware and on the mixing desk so I went straight into doing live shows , I just never learned to DJ and never really wanted to . I mean DJs are my inspiration and I love a good DJ set and respect a great DJ its just not what I am into!

Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
