Biography

Assembled in 2013, Tyler Vigil and Rebecca-Emma Kaplan blended style and sound to produce whiteowljaguar.
The duo pushes tech-centric sounds with gutteral basslines, sharp-riding hats, and rapid firing snares, with a range of genres laying the groundwork for whiteowljaguar’s inspiration.

Since their recent entrance onto the New York City nightlife scene, they have shared the decks with many of their influences such as UK duo Dusky, Crosstown Rebels‘ boss Damian Lazarus, Hector, Tom Trago, Marc Faenger and bass temptress Hannah Wants.

WOJ has spun to New York audiences from Brooklyn warehouses to Manhattan penthouses along with mainstay venues Verboten, Slake, and others.

The duo founded Talon&Claw in 2014 and have thrown events featuring artists Black Light Smoke, Sabo, and Scarlett Etienne, along with some of the best local talent New York has to offer.

Interview

Hello whiteowljaguar !! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today ?
We’re great! Today we’re throwing our last event of the summer in New York – an outdoor day party in Brooklyn – before we head out on the road, playing cities across the U.S. on our way to Burning Man and back.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2015?
We’ve both recently left our day jobs to focus on music and looking forward to getting into the studio when we get back to New York in October, with our debut release to (hopefully) follow!

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
In 2014 at Burning Man, we played on a giant Yacht on wheels called Christina Queen of BRC while the man was burning. Closing out the first Brooklyn warehouse party we ever played will always be one of our favourite DJ moments as will the first time we played the Control Room at Verboten was also pretty great. Playing at sunset on the beach in Isla Mujers, Mexico was pretty magical, so is playing high in the Manhattan skyline as the sun hits the East River.

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
iO (Mulen) – Mir
Panos – Tabletop Romance (San Proper Remix)
Photonz – Osiris Resurected (Palms Trax Remix)
Eddy Romero, Frink – Fox
Jose M . & TacoMan – Nobody’s Here

Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
