LABELS: Kraftek, Suara, Einmusika, Moodmusic, Rumors, Soulfooled, Save Us
VONDA7 landed in Berlin following a wavy voyage down from planet techno many bpm’s ago. A purveyor of hypnotic grooves, she speaks in synthesised melodies and laughs in heavy basslines that wash over you like what can only be described as a seriously slick musical baptism.
In a previous life, going back at least 10 years, VONDA7 earned her stripes interviewing dj’s & producers, shooting videos from the parties, doing anything she could to be close to her one true love – music. This finally translated into being in the creators seat when a project with her brother called Radioblue got attention from blogs & press including Guardian UK, as well as being released as an EP on Dapayk’s Fenou records.
Her never ending bond with electronic music led her straight to the front doors of the very prestigious SAE in Amsterdam, which in turn kicked off her life long affair with the creation of house & techno. She loves her analogue setup and combines it with digital technologies.
With a decent record collection and an innate ability to shake up the driest of crowds, she has built a strong presence around Berlin and has started to be recognized internationally. Her mixes are a journey of various electronic sounds with eclectic and hypnotic feel to it but also with soul of Detroit techno. Spiritual techno.
VONDA7 was featured on Re.You’s track „Closer“ released on Souvenir Records in November 2012, along with a remix of Amine Edge & DANCE, followed by a track „What is your sound“ which came out on Alex Niggeman’s imprint, Soulfooled. In September 2013 she won a worldwide DJ + Producer LAB hosted by BURN energy drinks and W Hotels which concluded in releasing her winning track on BURN records during Ibiza Music Summit. December 2014 brought long awaited “Chinese Whispers” sampler on Guy Gerber’s Rumors with her track “Epiphany” which got positive reviews and was featured on Thump (Vice).
In March 2015 she released her full Barryland EP on Pleasurekraft’s label, Kraftek (with remixes of Tiger Stripes & Ruede Hagelstein) which was featured by Beatport and Thump (Vice), again. She since remixed Kristian Velvet on Arms & Legs which again, was well acclaimed on Beatport and Andrea Ljekaj on Save Us Records where she also released her EP in December 2015. Her last track “I’m leaving you was part of recent Suara”s “Kitties on trance” compilation and featured Rolf Ramsby.
Upcoming releases include labels such us Einmusika, Moodmusic, Yousef’s new label Carioca Records and Guy J’s Lost&Found.
Alien, worldly, real, imaginary, religious or atheist one thing is for certain – her dancefloor is your church and her productions are your prayers. Come, pray and get down with VONDA7.
My Favourite Freaks Interview
Hello Sylwia !! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today ?
Today I am working on a podcast for you guys, two remixes and a collaboration track. Busy day. I also have to be in bed early to catch my flight to Tunisia at 7am in the morning where I will play at Traum Fest party.
Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My last track “Waterfalling” was part of compilation mixed by Ed Ed on Moodmusic Records. It’s an over 8-Minute journey of hypnotic beat and romantic melodies, I also processed my own vocal to give it a bit of a haunting feeling. Before that I had a track on Suara and a remix for Kristin Velvet on Arms & Legs…
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
Hmm… I am not sure, I think my EP on Kraftek got me some attention because my track was remixed by legends such as Tiger Stripes and Ruede Hagelstein – both super nice and extremely talented producers.
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2016?
There’s a lot planned for 2016 I work non stop and love making music so there’s always something in the pipeline. My new EP on Einmusika Records will drop in May and has got very good DJ feedback so far so I am a little proud of it There are more tracks coming out and more remixes but I don’t like to talk about things before they happen… you need stay tuned 😉
As you are touring, please tell us something about your experience around the globe. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I love Berlin, Ibiza and Los Angeles. All for different reasons but one in common for sure, a lively music scene and many creative people living in those cities. Berlin is my home base, Ibiza ideal summer spot and Los Angeles is just a city of angels and it’s got the magic for me – maybe one day…
What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
When you get on a plane right after your gig or wih one hour sleep, everything seems crazy 😉
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
My first gig in Berlin which was at Wilde Renate – I was so nervous! But I felt so accomplished afterwards. Sysiphos in Berlin is always good, I also enjoyed playing at The Egg in London a few weeks ago and Asia gigs, especially in Indonesia are fun as well. Last week at Mitte Soundbar Nürnberg was also fun – ah, I can’t decide every gig is special for some reason.
