Samuel Fach was born and raised in Gießen, a small city in central Germany. With plenty of time on his hands and an inquisitive mind, he began to explore electronic music. After years of discovering and learning about many varieties of music, he began to DJ in the year 1999. Through further expanding his knowledge and skill of DJing, he found an urge to express his own musical creativity. And so managed to buy an pc he began producing under the name „Laufmasche“. Under this name he successfully released with numerous labels such as; What What, Snork Enterprises and Eminor. Today he lives in Berlin, where he created his new alter Ego „Samuel Fach“ in 2011. His releases can be found on Tonkind, symbiont-music, Noise Music, Default Machine, UnderYourSkin and Amselcom – and on the weekends you’ll meet him in many Clubs across Germany!
My Favourite Freaks Interview
Hello Samuel ! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
I’m fine, and i made a mix with records that are both pumping and interesting! I think that’s an important combination: Tracks that work on the Dancefloor AND stay in mind when you leave the club..
Please tell us something about your experience touring, what is your favourite city or country and why?
I had trips with great partys and trips that were more interesting because of all the different influences I could experience there! My favourite Citys so far (besides Berlin) have been Zürich, Halle and Hamburg, because the people inviding me there were just amazing! But also our last Trip to Israel was wonderful, especially because we could stay at our friends place there. We were hanging out in the city, walking around, having nice food and stuff. That was perfect!
Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned for 2016 ?
There will be a few releases, but I don’t have the exact dates yet. There will be a new EP on Tonkind and one on Soupherb! Two other releases aren’t finally confirmed yet, so I can’t talk about them now.
Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far ?
I think it was my Release on Amselcom – I received a great response for my track “Elease”, which was played quite often! (https://soundcloud.com/amselcom/samuel-fach-elease?in=samuelfach/sets/samuel-fach-elease-amselcom)
How would you describe your sound ?
That’s difficult, because I have many different influences and I love to produce different tracks. I think it can be described as „sometimes melodic, sometimes dark techhouse stuff“. Right now it’s changing again, as is start using more trippy and „psychedellic“ sounds and darker basslines… Let’s see where this ends
What gives you inspiration to make further, as DJ / Producer?
On one side it’s the music that I hear – on partys or at home. If there’s sth that touches and moves me (and moves the crowd I’m playing for!!!), it inspires me for new Tracks. The other side are the production-technics I use. If I have a new Idea how to use an effect or a synthesizer, I want to try that! Maybe there’s a sound in a track which I like, but which I never created on my own before – that’s very motivating!!
What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Hard to say, I play a lot in Berlin, and that’s always great. Of course Golden Gate and Sisyphos are amazing, but I also had nice Trips in other countries like China, Israel, Switzerland.. and I played on a few Festivals, what is also very nice! Maybe: Plötzlich am Meer, Fusion, Golden Gate, Sisyphos, Kater Blau
Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
