Biography

Of course Thomas Stieler is above all a DJ at heart it‘s his passion. This has clearly been on display since 2005 with an open-hearted, development- adorned de nition of electro-acoustic sonic design.
His gift is in his ability to present his vision of technoid joi de vivre and house- avored hip swing with a taste of the galant to the audience. He‘s not thirsty for the eeting notoriety and peak time nonsense. Rather, for him it has everything to do with the sustainable potency of the celebration of house and techno. He comes as a noted, universal „weapon“ for those special thoughtful moments of the celebration. From an idylic beginning in Saalfeld, Thomas Stieler is convinced that his hometown has more to offer than merely ne chocolate, manufacturing and elaborate caves…
In the region (and in the meantime, throughout many regions) he enjoys inarguably an of cial nimbus when it comes to quality management in regards to club design. This is put on display weekend for weekend as he puts his agility as an activist in front of and behind the of booth. Along with his own sonic fabrications, these are indeed worth much more than merely a Soundcloud patron leaving a positive comment.
Thomas is an authentic ‚convincer‘ in the electronic experience, infected by a pioneer spirit and the yearning for the perfect groove on the decks, in the air and on the sea…

My Favourite Freaks Interview

Hey mate! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey Lars… i’m fine. Thanks! I’m sitting in my studio and checking some promos while answering your questions. 😉

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
Last year i’ve made two EPs, the first EP for the Weimar based label Polynom called „Well Justified“ with a remix by Daniel Stefanik and another EP on the Leipzig based label Esoulate called „Surfaces“ with remixes by Mac-Kee, Suburb and Zacharias. In the last months i also made several remixes for Patrick Testor & Marco Riemann on Brise Records, for Borrowed Identity on Foul & Sunk, for Zeitlmeier & CreDes on Refresh Your Mind, just to name a few.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
For sure there’s a very special upcoming EP with Daniel Stefanik on Rotary Cocktail Recordings. We made 4 Tracks in 3 sessions and we’re very happy about this EP. The release date is on February 22th.
I also finished several remixes for Frole Records, Rough Recordings and for you… My Favourite Freaks. 🙂 I finished another 2 EPs which will release in the first half of 2016.

You have recorded your mix as a Vinyl only exclusive. What does Vinyl means to you?
Nearly every mix i recorded is vinyl only, i’m a big vinyl collector. Every month i spend a lot of money for new and old records. Finally you get them and it’s like waiting for Christmas as a little child. I love to see & touch what i’m playing. Well i’m a vinyl lover… 😉

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
After a hard and long weekend and three great gigs, just longed for my bed. On this early sunday afternoon we left the club to went back home. The passenger, very drunk, was our navigation and at an important junction he sent us in the wrong direction. With a little detour we drove for our way back home around three hours instead of only one hour. I fall into my bed and slept until tuesday.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
I think nearly every gig is special, here are my top5 gigs in 2015:

Kunstkantine Magdeburg
Rave on Snow Saalbach-Hinterglemm
Hinterhof Basel
Distillery Leipzig
