Biography

With more than ten years of experience behind the decks, you can be sure that Hamburg based DJ and producer Sascha Riot knows how the wind blows. Musically influenced by Soul-, Hip-Hop- and Housetracks of the early 90s, he developed a feeling and taste for a unique mixture of electronic music during the last years.

Without being stuck in genres, he now describes his blend of various styles simply as house music. It is Sascha’s passionate style that gets the crowd hooked on every time he enters the decks. Having started producing music in 2011, his sound is the evidence that he is also able to transfers this passion into his tracks and remixes. Organic sounds, combined with deep and rolling basslines are proof that groove is the key and he deftly showcases his understanding of how to move a crowd as a DJ and even as a producer.

Currently he released tracks and remixes on labels like Intacto, Zoo:Technique, Rrygular and Stil Vor Talent just to name a few and it is not surprising that his releases gain growing strong support of highly profiled key-artists from all over the world.
Now he’s busy working on lots of new stuff for his further release schedule and you can expect a bunch of productions coming up on some prolific labels during the next months.

Sascha Riot is definitely an artist who is worth keeping an eye on.

My Favourite Freaks Interview

Hello Sascha! How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hey guys, I’m good thanks. There’s currently a lot of paperwork to do and I’m also preparing for ADE. Besides there are some projects I’m working on so my schedule is pretty well filled at the moment.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
I wasn’t really productive this year so far due to the fact that I have had some technical and some creative issues to solve. It was also good to have a little time-out to gather new energy. During the last weeks I upgraded my studio gear so that it’s now fun again to work on new projects and there’s already some stuff scheduled.

You have a regular daily job, you are producer and DJ. How do you manage this schedule?
To work 8-9 hours in the office and then continue working on music related projects (producing, djing, networking, promotion, research, paperwork, etc.) makes it sometimes pretty tough to find the right work-life-balance. But the fact that the musical part mostly doesn’t feel like work makes it pretty much easier

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
I currently finished a remix for FreedomB which will be released during the next weeks on a Berlin based label and I’m also working on a remix for a track from Ioakim Sayz. Besides I prepared some ideas and sketches for a bunch of new original tracks so there’s coming some new music in the near future. I can’t wait to finish and test the new stuff

What was your funniest or craziest experience while touring?
The funniest and craziest things always happen whenever you least expect them, especially with the MFF family. But I remember a gig I played a few years ago when I was booked for the last slot of a party. I just played the first two or three tracks as a guy came into the DJ booth and said to me that he immediateley wants to play because he was one the promoters of the party. After a brief discussion I grabbed my stuff and was about to leave as the guy asked me if I could lend him my headphones because he had no own with him. Of course I couldn’t and I let him have his fate. The party was over 15 minutes later.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
It’s tricky to pick a certain one due to the fact that mostly every venue or event has something special to remember. I would say so far my last gigs at Suicide Circus (Berlin), Uebel & Gefährlich & Fundbureau (Hamburg), Favela & Fusion Club (Muenster) were pretty special.
What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
