Interview

Hello mate!  How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Since we (Voltage Musique Records) have just released a new Dole & Kom EP and the debut EP by T.M.A is around the corner I have to take care of the online business duties of a label manager/owner.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
My current release is the label compilation “Marquez Ill Presents Voltage Musique Essentials” with 26 original tracks and remixes. Besides that there are remixes for DkA vs. Hollis P Monroe on Voltage Musique Records and for M.F.S: Observatory on My Vision Records out.

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
My first collaboration with female vocalist Leigh Myles from Scotland (SOMA) received lots of attention back then. Laurent Garnier, Markus Kafka and Tom Novy played it to name a few. “Regret” was originally part of a 4 track 12” vinyl compilation. Eventually we had to re-release the tune alongside remixes by Tigerskin, The Glitz and Vector Lovers.
The most plays on Soundcloud though receives my collaboration “All It Takes” with Bright Light Bright Light. He’s originally from the UK but lives in New York now and tours with Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, Scissor Sisters and Sir Elton John.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
I’m currently working on new material and I have some collaboration projects in the pipeline.

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
To me playing somewhere outside Germany is always exciting in a way. All I can say is that I enjoy playing in eastern countries, for example Wroclaw, Poland. The vibe is similar to what we had in the 90s and the people really care about the music. On the other hand I won’t miss the hospitality of my Brussels family.

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Sisyphos (Berlin): I like playing long sets and the strong connection between DJ and crowd.
Tresor (Berlin): I already played Plus4 Bar a couple of times but playing Globus was an honor for me.
Uebel & Gefährlich (Hamburg): Always a good experience and always a full house. Love it!
Klub Pralnia (Wrocław) with Âme: Great spirit, greatful crowd and fantastic promoters.
MS Stubnitz (Rostock/Hamburg): A really extraordinary location to play techno inside of a ship.

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Dense & Pika – Suki – Drumcode
M.in & Marquez Ill – Make Some Noise – My Favourite Freaks
Dompe & Agent – Sultan – Get Physical
Exon Bacon & DkA – Bassick (Marquez Ill Rawmix) – Voltage Musique Records
DkA vs. Hollis P Monroe – Snooze It Off (Marquez Ill Remix) – Voltage Musique Records

Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
