Biography

If you are a clubber or simply an electronic music lover you could be not new with Hollen. His career doesn’t have a real starting point, just like many young guys he went through DJing for fun and he regularly attended all the House and Techno events close to his hometown where he had the chance to witness the performance of the turntables legends. From playing in the small clubs of his city till organise his own events, Hollen burst on the scene thanks to his music productions started in 2008. Whatever it is, groovy Tech House or peak time Techno, he constantly keeps his trade mark who turned him today into one of the most cherished artists. His thinking is: “I don’t like to talk about genres, i love the music in ALL its facets and always in a constantly evolution”.
Regularly charted in all the main Music stores, he worked with 100% Pure, Agile, Bitten, Deeperfect, Driving forces, Form Music, Glasgow Underground, Intacto, Kling Klong, Loose records, Pornographic, Terminal M, Toolroom, Saved, Suara, Transmit, Tronic… The collaborations with Pirupa, Stefano Noferini, Uto Karem and the remixes for Dj Chus, Felix Kröcher, Alberto Ruiz + Pig & Dan, German Brigante, Cuartero are the highest point of the iceberg who lay the foundations in musical and technical knowledge. “It’s just a short step from making music to DJ but you need a different viewing of the music since the producer creates and plays with the sounds, the DJ should simply let your ass shake”. Many are the places where he exported his personal “Techno made in Italy”, clubs and festivals as International Talent and Rashomon in Italy, El Row, Fabrik and Florida 135 in Spain, Egg and Ministry of Sound in UK, Mystic Garden Festival, Dockyard Festival, Air and Lief Festival in Holland, Cacao Beach in Bulgaria, Space, Clevelander, Robot Ears in U.S.A., Coda in Canada, Club Era and Twilight Festival in South Africa. Furthermore India, Japan, Indonesia, Dubai with a special feeling with central and south America: Dream Festival, Time & Space Festival and Novilunio Festival in Mexico, On Beat and Living Entertainment in Colombia, Bahrein in Argentina, Clash Club in Brasil, Club Vertigo in Costa Rica. In 2011 he launched together with his long standing friend Tony Dee the label Prospect Records with the task to develop an own musical concept and to support young or new talents. Today the label is hyperactive with monthly releases and label parties.

Interview

Hello mate!  How Are You? What do you have scheduled for today?
Hello guys, I’m fine thanks. I’m enjoying the day, then my daily work in the studio and some meetings in the evening.

Please tell us a bit about your latest releases!
Well, there’s quite a lot to talk about. Obviously the main topic for me in the latest months is the official remix for Moby & The Void Pacific Choir “Erupt and Matter” that is available on Little Idiot (Moby’s Label). As a fan it was hard to decide how to rework a song of such a legendary artist, but after few tries the ideas went more clear step after step. Another dope release from the latest months was my “Acidizer EP” on Riot Recordings, that contains my originals “Acidizer” and “Superflux” plus two really cool remixes from Spartaque and Dj Jock.

Which release was the one who gave you the most attention so far?
I’ve felt that tracks like “Collision” (Monique Music),  “Into The Darkness” (Bitten), “Electrocution” (Suara) and “Rediscovered” (Deeperfect) made a lot of hype around me. But I think that also the hard work with all the other releases payed me during the time I was making my name in the scene.

Tell us a bit about your upcoming releases! Is there anything special planned?
Yes, for sure! I’m always working on new projects and collaborations, so basically I have tons of ideas and tracks on my desktop. Talking about the ones I have already signed, there’s an EP planned on  Set About (Metodi Hristov’s Label), my return on Glasgow Underground and of course a new one on my own label Prospect Records.

As you are touring a lot, please tell us something about your experience. What is your favourite city or country and why?
I feel so lucky to be able to travel a lot doing what I love most. I had the pleasure to touch a huge number of places around the world and each one gave me back something different that I can’t forget. I love to play in Europe, countries like Holland, Germany and Spain have a great scene that are always interested in discovering new names, their crowds during the parties are engaged to let you feel the connection between the dj and the dancefloor. But also in South America the clubbers are incredibly great and their parties are huge!

What were your TOP 5 gigs so far?
Only Five? I have more then those! I can list both a chart made by festivals and clubs: for the first ones I had really good memories from dutch festivals Dockyard and Mystic Garden as well as Dream Festival and Time And Space Festival in Mexico. Among the clubs I can’t forget the parties at Fabrik in Madrid, Ministry Of Sound in London, Terraza in Athens, Florida 135 in Fraga and Cacao Beach in Sunny Beach

What are your top 5 tracks that are really working the dance floor in your sets at the moment?
Honestly I’m playing a lot of unreleased tracks during my sets, both mine than from other artists I respect. For sure my new track “Cyclop” (soon on my label Prospect Records with two great remixes), then my new collaboration with Raffaele Rizzi “Analog Combo”, “Hay Rolls” from The Southern (That was released on Prospect Records as well), my new track “Bitrate” that will be out soon on Metodi Hristov’s “Set About” and my remix for Fatima Haji.

Thank you for your time and this interesting interview!
